Passion for Birth
I discovered my passion for birth work during my Holistic Health Practitioner training. I loved the Conscious Birth portion of the training, which revealed the mystery of the birth experience and its formative influence on our experience of life. It showed me that birth can be honored and empowering, a loving and pleasurable experience.
Fear and disempowerment around birth are prevalent in our culture. Growing up, I knew little of birth, beyond that its pain was to be feared, and it happened behind hospital doors. As a doula, my purpose is to help mamas and families empower themselves to create a birth that feels connected and loving.
Creating Connection
From lifesharing with developmentally disabled adults in a Camphill Community, to cultivating a culture of gratitude and abundance with Cafe Gratitude, to growing a children’s home in Thailand, to Holistic Health training, I bring my experience creating connection to my work.
Credentials
I am certified as a postpartum doula, and completing certification as a birth doula, through Cornerstone Doula Trainings. My doula training includes lactation training, optimal fetal positioning, home birth support, neonatal resuscitation, and infant/child/adult CPR.
With over 1,500 hours of training at the World School, I have powerful hands-on experience in supporting others. I am certified as a Holistic Health Practitioner and a massage therapist. I am insured and a registered therapist member of the International Massage Association.
A bachelor’s degree in psychology provides academic background to my work.
